Part-time
Part-time hospital employees do not have access to benefits. Instead they receive a payment calculated as a percentage of their salary, in lieu of benefits.

Retirement Plans:
Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)-Full time employees at SAH participate in HOOPP.  Eligible part time employees also have the option of joining.  The HOOPP is a defined benefit pension plan.

Canada Saving Bonds (CSB)-Employees may contribute to CSB’s through Payroll deductions.

Employee Assistance Programs

The Sault Area Hospital’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is designed to offer a voluntary, confidential short-term counselling and advisory support service to all staff who may be experiencing situations that affect their well-being, work performance, health and family life. This program also extends to spouses and dependent children of staff.

 

Incentive Grants

Incentive Grants of up to $15000, paid over three years, may be available to certain healthcare professionals who relocate to Sault Ste. Marie to full time positions of one (1) year or more with SAH.  The funding is provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) to attract and retain health care professionals to Northern Ontario.

The Health Sciences Library holds specialized collection in Nursing, Allied Health and Health Administration and is accessible24/7. 1 part time librarian dedicated to clinical programs to assist with evidence-based practice, health education and research/ innovations.
