Emergency Medicine Conference
In September, Dr. Ehsan Mohammadi, along with other SAH Emergency Department physicians organized and hosted the second annual Sault Emergency Medical Conference.
This conference was designed to provide practicing Emergency Medicine practitioners with an evidence-based update in a wide variety of emergency medicine topics. A special pre-conference day was dedicated to “CASTED” (Casting and Splinting Techniques in the Emergency Department), the 2011 College of Family Physicians of Canada Continuing Professional Development Award Winner.
The two conference days covered a myriad of topics including: Oncological Emergencies; Challenges in Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis; Wrist Fractures Reduction and Stabilization; Trauma and Pregnancy; and Trauma and Acutely Ill in Rural Settings, to name just a few.
The conference attracted physicians and ED practitioners from the community, region and beyond and was also an excellent vehicle for SAH and the local medical community to highlight the many amenities and professional opportunities available at SAH and/or Sault Ste. Marie.
