At Sault Area Hospital (SAH) volunteers are truly exceptional people who take time out of their busy lives to help others. If you are interested in joining our team we may have an opportunity for you. Adult and student volunteers find personal fulfillment in helping others while supporting the SAH Mission.
SAH is seeking people who are:

Committed, reliable, trustworthy and in good health who want to contribute their time to make SAH a better place for patients, visitors, staff and our community

Able to follow directions and to work without constant supervision

14 years of age and older

Available one shift per week (3 - 4 hours; weekdays with limited evenings/weekends)

Available for a minimum of six months to one year commitment is required
Volunteers play a vital role at SAH, including:
- Supplementing, not replacing, the services rendered by the professional staff
- Bringing patients those additional services which create a warm and friendly atmosphere in the hospital
- Participating in fundraising by staffing our various revenue-producing services or by taking part in special events
- Helping to interpret, in a positive way, the hospital to the community

Available Volunteer Opportunities
Information Desk
Duties: Assisting with patient information phone calls, directing visitors and patients to specific areas throughout the hospital.
Days/Times: (7 days)
4:00 to 7:30 p.m. Daily
10:00 to 1:30 Saturdays/Sundays
Nursing Floors
Duties: Assisting staff with patients in a variety of ways. Offer water to patients, assist in getting patient ready and comfortable for mealtime by freeing up bedside table, assist patient with lunch tray by making sure tray is reachable, removing lids on soup bowls and coffee/tea cups, cutting of food, etc.
